Delaware Friends of Folk have sponsored a “pick-in” for over 30 years.  The sessions were originally held in members’ homes.  They eventually migrated to more-public venues like restaurants, bars, a deli, and 8 years at Blue Earl Brewing.  Since last fall they have been at Double D Taphouse, north of Dover. We're excited to bring the pick-in to sussex county!

This an open acoustic jam.  It has its roots in the Irish “seisiún”.  Acoustic guitars, mandolins, fiddles, even banjos(!), are welcome, as are reed instruments and hand drums.  An electric bass or keyboard with a small amp are OK too.

We try to promote a sharing/teaching/learning gathering.  Playing familiar folk/blues/country/rock songs helps get everyone involved.  It may be useful to have someone try to shepherd the choice of a song to the next person in line or in the circle.  Ther’s nothing wrong with passing too.
