Founded by Marissa Levy Lerer—a singer-songwriter who traded Brooklyn's bustle for Lewes' laid-back charm—the Booth emerged from a desire to fill the void in the local original music scene. Marissa's journey from sharing stages with Matt Nathanson and Lisa Loeb to creating a haven for artists and audiences alike is a testament to her commitment to authentic musical expression.
At The Listening Booth, the focus is on original music that resonates. It's a place where artists can share their narratives, and listeners can find a piece of themselves in the songs. With a capacity of about 100 seats, the venue offers an intimate setting that fosters genuine connections between performers and the audience.

Marissa Levy Lerer is the kind of singer-songwriter who bridges the gap between introspection and outright relatability—a musical alchemist turning her own experiences into songs that feel like they’ve always belonged to you. Hailing from Lewes, Delaware (by way of the concrete jungle of NYU), her career has unfolded alongside artists like Matt Nathanson, Gavin DeGraw, Lisa Loeb, and Ron Pope—basically, the folks you turn to when you need to feel all your feelings.
With four albums to her name, Marissa’s catalog is equal parts sharp wit and tender reflection. But she’s not just about her own story; she’s about all the stories. Her passion for original music extends beyond her guitar strings. That’s why she’s embarking on her boldest venture yet: The Listening Booth, a music venue she’s opening in early 2023 in her hometown of Lewes. It’s less about her and more about creating a space where songs—real, raw, unfiltered—can take on a life of their own.

Victoria is our Head of Hustle, currently living in Milton Delaware, hailing from Upstate New York originally. She has over 25 years of experience within the food industry and customer service. With a keen ear and earnest heart for singer songwriter artists and the like, her joining The Listening Booth seemed nothing short of serendipitous.
After meeting our Chief Roadie Marissa, at the infamous open mic hosted by Tyler Greene, it was clear the path of friendship ahead included business endeavors with the heart and soul for original music. Thus began her journey with us here at TLB.
Nate McCormick
Director of Noise
Nate McCormick is a performing guitarist, with almost 2 decades of experience on stage and playing - either solo, or in various bands and groups. With years of one-on-one and classroom teaching experience, Nate is able to cover a wide variety of guitar subjects suitable for players of most styles and proficiency levels. His performance experience will provide you with all the tools you need to get out and get playing! Now available for guitar and bass instruction.
Nate wants his students enthusiastic and curious - music is a language! The best way to learn is to immerse yourself in habits and a lifestyle that surrounds making great music, and learning every day. He wants you to be the best player you want to be.
Chana Fitzkee
Head of Harmony
Chana Fitzkee is all about great music and awesome humans! Known as "Team Fun" when on tour, Chana brings the energy and positive vibes wherever she goes. With a proven track record as a talent buyer, she's a pro at discovering talent and building brands. Since 2018, Chana has brought numerous notable acts to the state of Delaware, including Duane Betts, Daniel Donato, Bruce Katz, Crack The Sky & John Ford Coley, . As a booking agent, she matches artists with venues, using her unique perspective to understand both sides of the stage, some of her clients include Melody Trucks, Bobby Lee Rodgers, Jackson Stokes, The Fitzkee Brothers, Gordon Sterling & The People, Jonathan Sloan & Tony Tyler to name a few.
She frequently tours and books for nationally touring musicians, and her passion lies in creating connections between great musicians and great venues. The proud mother of "The Fitzkee Brothers," Chana has raised two successful touring musicians, booked countless acts, and even partnered in a venue. She’s deeply immersed in the world of live music, always on the lookout for the next exciting collaboration.
