Mr. Hetfield's
Rock & Roll Summer Camp

at The Listening Booth

Ever wonder what it’s like to be in a real band?

At Rock & Roll Summer Camp, young musicians don’t just learn music — they become musicians. Over two weeks, campers form bands, rehearse daily, record original and cover songs, and perform live on real stages around Lewes.

Led by legendary local educator Walt Hetfield and supported by seasoned instructor and sound engineer and head of education Nate McCormick, this immersive experience is designed for kids who want to play, perform, and grow in confidence — whether they’re brand new or already rocking out.

The camp is open to most instruments and vocalists. One of the primary goals of the camp is to take students who have been taking private or school band lessons on various instruments and getting them into an ensemble-playing situation. Mr. Hetfield's Rock and Roll summer camp is a place for them to meet and play with other young musicians.

There is no formal audition, but campers need to have a rudimentary knowledge of their instrument. All interested guitarists should know basic chords (i.e. G, C , D , E, A major and minor) and a scale pattern or two. Drummers should have some familiarity with a drum set, etc. Keyboard players should be at least graduated to level two. Saxes and trumpets and other wind instruments are always welcome.
