About The Event

Connor Garvey is an award-winning singer-songwriter from Portland, Maine, with the amiable presence of an entertainer, the lyrical depth of a poet, and the enchantment of a storyteller.

Garvey leaves audiences uplifted and inspired through a positive message delivered in a way proves you can be optimistic and self-aware without being boring.

First time listeners often are drawn to Garvey’s engaging performance style, accomplished musicianship, and memorable melodies. But his lyrics project a depth and sincerity that allow the observant listener to find meaning beyond the catchy hook. “Connor isn’t afraid to tackle some heavy-duty subjects” writes Americana Highways.

On his latest release, Another End of the Year, Garvey shows his maturity as a songwriter, addressing personal and universal subjects through a series of lyrical stories. This collection of songs reflects the wisdom gained from experiencing life.

“The result is remarkably effective thanks to Garvey’s knack for writing lyrics that get to the core of some of our most vulnerable feelings… his most powerful record yet. There is a cohesiveness and maturity to these songs that clearly benefited from a slew of major life experiences that come with age.” (Glide Magazine)

“…simply top-tier material, a record that’s completely original and brimming with musical ideas and emotional depth far beyond his years…yet another example of a Maine artist deserving of a global profile.” – The Maine Edge

“This is quality songcraft from a richly experienced, acclaimed musician.” – Americana UK

Onstage, Garvey is driven by the shared, spontaneous moments that can only come from live performance.

He thrives in the intimacy and connection best observed in the brief space between the last note of a song and the applause – when audience and artist alike share a moment of reflection of the common experience.

This combination of songwriting and performance strength has earned Garvey numerous awards including being named winner of the Kerrville New Folk, Rocky Mountain Folks Fest, SolarFest, Wildflower Art and Music Festival and Maine Songwriters Association songwriting competitions, voted as Most Wanted artist at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, nominated for Best Male Performer in the New England Music Awards, and a top new singer songwriter by Sirius XM’s The Coffeehouse. It has also put him on stage at many of the country’s most notable folk festivals and intimate venues headlining shows and supporting great acts such as Brett Dennen, Catie Curtis, Storyhill, John Gorka, Ellis Paul, David Wilcox, and more.

Most importantly, his songs move people. They have and found their way into important life moments and experiences like marriages, funerals, cross country road-trips, and memorable nights out listening to live music.

Outside the musical world, Garvey is a skilled group facilitator. Whether serving at an international peace camp for Israeli and Palestinian youths or leading a group of adult coworkers, he brings people together to find common experience and purpose. But like his music, he tackles these heavy subjects while infusing a strong sense of joy, playfulness and fun.

Catch Connor Garvey live or sit back and listen to his recordings in your own time and space. In the meantime, he will continue to find the adventures that create the songs.

“Connor Garvey continues to surprise me. That’s a good thing. A very good thing. There is no chance that his shows will be repetitive or suffer in a dull sameness. Connor’s got the spark: a creative spark that literally shines all around him when he’s on stage. His recordings are equally charming. He has a way of turning a phrase or skewing a song scenario so that it makes the listener take note. That’s a real talent.”

– No Depression

“First-rate songwriting with equally solid vocals and a tapestry of keen musicianship.”

– Portland Press Herald

“Connor Garvey is not only a consummate performer – he is a refreshingly unique songwriter. You could consider his songwriting talent with Instragram in mind as for three minutes or so, you look at the world through his lenses – and hope, courage and life’s daily surprises are regular themes. Recommended.”

– MarySue Twohy, SiriusXM The Village

“…when Connor Garvey stepped up with solid singing and playing, the place was silent and I knew that this acoustic music tradition was in the right hands…”

– Vance Gilbert, Folk Legend

“… proves you can be optimistic and self-aware without being boring.”

– Aimsel Ponti, The Portland Press Herald

“STOP AND LISTEN! What Connor Garvey hears, and what he plays, is worth your time… he’ll get you to listen for the sound of the pulses all around you. Garvey is something like a cross between Paul Simon and Rufus Wainwright, with a bounce and a smile, but also every now and then a wry turn that makes you pick your head up.”

– Sam Pfiefle, The Portland Phoenix

Joshua Rose likes to sing and make musical noises.  He is still learning how to do both at the same time.
